The panel is being held in the Karbach Brewing Sky Porch at Globe Life Field (734 Stadium Drive, Arlington, TX 76011) prior to the 2024 HBCU Swingman Classic presented by T-Mobile & powered by the Major League Baseball-MLBPA Youth Development Foundation as a part of the MLB All-Star Week festivities.

Panelists:

Damien Butler is a National Football League Agent at the Ballengee Group. A credentialed sports management professional with 25+ years of experience, Butler is a uniquely qualified marketing representative adept in brand development strategy, engagement and client relations. His sports experience includes serving as a Partner & Director of Football Operations at Quality Control Sports and Founder of the Dallas-based firm Capital Marketing Ventures, LLC. Butler’s roster of clients has included Michael Vick, Dez Bryant, Alvin Kamara, Calijah Kancey and Deandre Swift. His current collection of clients includes Zach Carter (Cincinnati Bengals), Jaelyn Duncan (Tennessee Titans), Jase McClellan (Atlanta Falcons) and Malik Nabors (New York Giants). Butler earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration, Marketing with a minor in Economics from Morehouse College in 1996. He went on to earn his Juris Doctor from the Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University in 2000.

Tony Wylie is Chief Executive Officer of The Collective Engine. The Collective Engine is a full suite of marketing and branding services agency focused on securing and maximizing Name, Image and Likeness opportunities for elite athletes while providing direction for financial literacy, social responsibility, leadership and character development. Wylie, an award-winning and established athletics, business and communications executive, is using his wealth of experience to develop his venture focused on empowering athletes and cultivating value through communications/public relations and branding. His sports experience includes nearly 27 years in various communications and leadership roles with five National Football League franchises and a two-plus year stint as President and Managing Director, North America at the Special Olympics. During his time with the Special Olympics, he drove a 2x increase in revenue while spearheading program operations in North America, Canada and the Caribbean and fostering productive relationships across 12 new Caribbean islands. Wylie earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from Texas Southern University in 1993 and garnered his Master of Business Administration degree from the Jones Graduate School of Business at Rice University in 2007.

Toni Hill is Senior Director, Sports ExperienceS-Collegiate with On Location. Hill has worked with various sports entities including Ohio State University, Grambling State University, Delta Airlines, Reese’s Senior Bowl and the National Football League Coaches Association. A sports professional with 20 years in sports management, hospitality and event management, operations, human resources, and organizational development, she has executed VIP and hospitality experiences at events such as the Rose Bowl Game, NCAA Men and Women’s Final Fours, 2016 Copa America Centenario, ACM Awards, Super Bowl, College Football Playoff and NBA All-Star Weekend. Outside of work, Hill loves reading, camping, dancing, traveling, and outdoor adventures. She earned an Associate of Arts degree from Ohio State, her Bachelor of Science degree in Education and Business Administration from Grambling State University in 1998 and her Master of Sports Science degree in Sports Management/ Organizational Development from the United States Sports Academy in 2004.

Nicole Baker is an Evening Anchor at CBS News Texas. Joining the CBS Texas team in May 2022, the Emmy-nominated anchor now serves as the leading voice for the 5, 7 and 10 p.m. newscasts. Her career stops include nearly four years as an anchor at CBS Baltimore (WJZ-TV) and almost 10 years working in various newsrooms including CNN. Her love of journalism and passion for people and storytelling developed from her upbringing in Philadelphia and following the footsteps of her uncle, who was well-known in the city’s radio scene when she was growing up. He convinced her to try television and she never looked back. She is a proud member of the National Association of Black Journalists and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. Baker earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Spelman College in 2013 and also completed an accelerated graduate-level newsroom academy in partnership with the New York Times at New York University.  

2024 HBCU Swingman Classic

The 2024 HBCU Swingman Classic presented by T-Mobile & powered by the Major League Baseball-MLBPA Youth Development Foundation (YDF) takes place at Globe Life Field with the first pitch slated for 7 p.m. Featuring the best baseball athletes from Historically Black Colleges & Universities, the Swingman Classic is the leadoff event for MLB All-Star Week 2024. Hall of Famer & YDF Ambassador Ken Griffey Jr. hosts talent from across the country on the same field the Major League All-Stars will be playing on just a few days later.

New to the HBCU Swingman Classic this year is the Battle of the Bands, featuring the performances of Prairie View A&M's ‘Marching Storm' and Texas Southern's 'Ocean of Soul
