LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIPS APPLICATION

Black Sports Professionals North Texas is awarding 10 scholarships – five $1,500 (Leadership) and five $1,000 (Community) – to deserving students with ties to the Dallas-Fort Worth area. 

Applicants for these scholarships MUST meet the criteria listed below. The application process for 2024-25 opens on September 3. The deadline to apply is November 15. The scholarship recipients will be announced in December and funds for these scholarships will be distributed to the recipients no later than January 15, 2025.

BSPNTX Leadership Scholarships Criteria

• Must be either 1) a college sophomore, junior, senior or graduate student pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in sport management (or sports-related field of study) at a college or university in the greater North Texas area or 2) a college sophomore, junior, senior or graduate student who is North Texas-area native pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in sport management (or sports-related field of study).

• Maintain a current GPA of 3.0 or higher and provide an official copy of your academic transcript as verification.

• Submit a written essay of 500 words or less reflecting on a pivotal moment in your career where you took on a leadership role that required you to challenge the status quo. Describe how you navigated this situation, the impact it had on your growth as a leader, and the broader implications for diversity and inclusion in the sports industry. Discuss the lessons learned from this experience and how you plan to leverage your leadership to foster an environment of equity and representation for future generations of Black sports professionals.
