Wright, Peterson Awarded Custom Reveal Suits as BSPNTX's Top 2021-22 Scholarship Recipients

DALLAS – Damon Wright, a first-year graduate student at Southern Methodist University, and Mya Peterson, a sophomore at the University of Kansas, are the Reveal Suits package winners as the top recipients of the 2021-22 National Society of Black Sports Professionals North Texas (BSPNTX) scholarships.


Wright and Peterson each will receive a Reveal Suits custom outfit tailored with Reveal Suits Founder and Chief Executive Officer Carlton Dixon. BSPNTX will unveil their custom outfits on BSPNTX.com and its social media channels later in 2022.


Wright and Peterson headlined the chapter's inaugural class of eight scholarship recipients receiving a total of 10,500 in scholarship dollars – $1,500 each to five BSPNTX Leadership Scholarship recipients and $1,000 each to three BSPNTX Community Scholarship recipients – during the 2021-22 academic year.


A native of Birmingham, Ala., Wright graduated with a 3.85 GPA from Mississippi College with a Bachelor of Science in Communication degree in Sports Media. He is now pursuing a Master’s degree in Sport Management in the North Texas area at SMU. Wright has his sights on a career in marketing or business development.


Peterson, a Prosper, Texas, native, maintains a 3.47 GPA in Journalism (Sport Concentration) and Business Marketing in her second year at Kansas. She is active on campus with Media Crossroads, where she works as a Playmakers sports producer. Peterson has her sights on a career in sports broadcasting.


"Damon and Mya stood out in a strong, talented pool of applicants for our inaugural scholarships," said BSPNTX Scholarship Committee Chair Cherise Lee. "Our chapter is thrilled to provide this unique opportunity for these two who are poised to be a part of the next generation of sports professionals."


Applicants for the chapter's scholarships had to meet the criteria of 1) being a college sophomore, junior, senior or graduate student at a college or university in the greater North Texas area or being a North Texas-area native pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in sport management (or sports-related field of study) area, 2) maintaining a current GPA of 3.0 or higher for the BSPNTX Leadership Scholarship or 2.5 or higher for the BSPNTX Community Scholarship and 3) submitting a written essay of 500 words or less outlining how his/her goals to pursue a career in sports align with BSPNTX's pillars.
