2025 was a year of meaningful change across the North Texas sports landscape. Franchises, stars and executives made high-profile moves that tested emotions, shifted loyalties, and once again, reminded us of the unmatched power of sports and the vital role it plays in our everyday lives.

Black Sports Professionals North Texas experienced that same evolution.

While we continued to achieve record-setting accomplishments, 2025 was also one of the most challenging years in our chapter's history. We said goodbye to four valued Executive Board members who played critical roles in building the chapter. We thank Kelli Frazier, Cherise Lee, Nyzhe Primas and Victor Ribakare for everything they did to make BSPNTX better. We know each of them will continue to support the chapter going forward.

While these transitions reflected growth, career advancement, marriages, expanding families and new life responsibilities, the chapter persevered to reach milestones and enjoy successes thanks to our dedicated Board members and numerous committee members volunteering their time to consistently push forward our mission to CONNECT, EMPOWER and ADVANCE Black professionals in the sports industry.

Highlights from our past 12 months:

Executive Board: BSPNTX welcomed five new Executive Board members – Tracy Honoré (Scholarship Committee Chair), Angela Lang (Membership Committee Chair), Natasha Stamper (Treasurer), Alexandria Williams (Programs & Events Committee Chair) and Isaiah Yates (Sponsorship & Fundraising Committee Chair). These experienced and talented leaders have already strengthened our foundation and are positioning the chapter for continued momentum.

Our Executive Committee expanded as well, bringing aboard Marketing-Communications Committee Chair Scottie Rodgers, along with myself and Vice Presidents Breon Dennis and Greer Christian.

With our retooled Board and Executive Committee in place, BSPNTX has never been better positioned to lead and serve our members and the North Texas sports community.

Scholarships: Tracy Honoré stepped in to lead the Scholarship Committee, building upon the strong foundation established by Cherise Lee. For the 2025-26 academic year, BSPNTX awarded $25,000 in scholarships to 10 college students with North Texas ties. In five years of its scholarships initiative, the chapter has distributed $94,500 to fund 48 scholarships for 41 college students striving to be among the next generation of professionals in the sports industry.

Programs & Events: Alexandria Williams assumed leadership of the Programs & Events Committee, following longtime Board member Kelli Frazier. In 2025, BSPNTX hosted 10 events, including eight in-person events/happy hours and two webinars.

The chapter's second BSPNTX Summit in April doubled the number of attendees from its inaugural one in 2023 and garnered coverage from local and national media outlets as its stellar lineup of presenters shared knowledge and insights on the current landscape of sports from the college and professional levels and business perspectives.

To cap the Summit, the chapter surprised sports industry legend Cynthia "Cynt" Marshall with its second Legacy Award. Marshall is a trailblazer in North Texas, most recently serving portions of eight seasons as the first female to serve as Chief Executive Officer of a National Basketball Association franchise.

The Women's History Month webinar in March garnered the second-most RSVPs for any event and drew the second-most total and concurrent attendees for a webinar in chapter history. BSPNTX capped off the year in December with a joint networking social with the Women in Sports + Events DFW chapter and Dallas Influencers in Sports & Entertainment.

Sponsorship & Fundraising: Isaiah Yates took over the reins as Sponsorship & Fundraising Committee Chair from Victor Ribakare and helped review key partners. Yates hit the ground running on looking to expand the chapter's partnerships with other North Texas professional franchises and is focused going forward on evolving BSPNTX's connections with corporate entities in addition to organizations in the college and professional sports space.

We thank our partners for their support of the chapter this year and we look forward to extending our relationship with them for years to come:

Dallas Mavericks

Texas Rangers

Dallas Cowboys

Dallas Stars

FC Dallas

PGA of America

Reveal Suits

Membership: Angela Lang came on board to lead BSPNTX's membership efforts. The chapter's active membership remained strong throughout the year, maintaining a monthly average of 160 active members. Lang looks to build the Membership Committee in the months ahead with committed members focused on increased engagement with current members and implementing strategies to bring in new members and help take the chapter's membership numbers to all-time highs.

Mentorship Program: BSPNTX revived its Mentorship Program under the leadership of dedicated chapter members Dr. Marshia Allen and Dr. Tara Collins. The program's mission is to cultivate the next generation of leaders in the sports industry and bridge the gap between emerging talent and seasoned professionals by fostering growth, innovation and collaboration across the sports business landscape. The program's first cohort matched 15 mentors with 15 mentees and has been wildly successful. The year ahead is slated include celebrating National Mentoring Month in January and the launch of the second cohort.

Marketing & Communications: Marketing & Communications Chair Scottie Rodgers continued to elevate BSPNTX's brand visibility across social media, digital platforms and events. The chapter ranks among the top Black Sports Professionals chapters in Instagram followers and leads in LinkedIn followers. He has guided BSPNTX to enhance branding elements for events, produced the chapter's first merchandise and coordinated increased media coverage around the Summit.

Finance: Natasha Stamper moved into the Treasurer's role and continued the strong financial stewardship established by Greer Christian and enhanced multiple operational best practices. 2025 marked another record financial year for BSPNTX, strengthening the chapter's financial standing despite economic challenges.

Administration: Administration Committee Chair LaDondra Wilson helped guide the chapter through governance reviews, bylaw updates and strategic planning for 2026 and beyond.

The last 12 months have been filled with triumph, amid a myriad of challenges and industry headwinds impacting inclusion-centric initiatives and programs. In the next 12 months, BSPNTX is committed to remaining inclusive, striving for excellence and creating growth opportunities for sports professionals at all stages of their careers.

As we prepare for 2026 – highlighted by our nation's 250th anniversary, emerging sports coming to the area and North Texas hosting its first INDYCAR race in March and nine FIFA World Cup matches in June and July – we invite you to continue this journey with us as we grow our impact and expand our reach.

On behalf of BSPNTX, thank you for your continued support of the leading chapter in the BSP network. We wish you and your families a joyful holiday season and look forward to making 2026 our best year yet!

Larry Lundy
